Pattern writing in crochet language

Pattern writing in crochet language

I am wondering if it's time for me to branch out into crochet patterns.  I know I can design in crochet, but I am not sure I can write in crochet language.  Being exclusively a charts user,   to me  the crochet lingo  always seemed artificial, difficult to rear and use, not visual enough and a bit tortured.

So now I am busy trying to discover my own crochet writing style, trying to make it less wordy  so that the project can advance quicker. I am not sure if I will succeed,  but I am trying.  Sadly I crochet quicker than I write. The trial sample is almost done  while all I have on the page is the chain number for the foundation row.  The dress just went on its own somehow.

Sorry for my old and very much used blocking board. It is so big and so comfortable to use that it will stay with me for as long as it can.
