Knitting pattern for American Girl doll and other 18 inch dolls. It features the instructions on how to knit a Bohus inspired cardigan for 18 inch dolls that share the body type with American Girl dolls.
This long sleeved cardigan with a beautiful yoke pattern is a wonderful cover up for cooler weather and will go over a dress, skirt or with pants. It can we worn as a stylish cardigan with the buttons on the front or as a sweater with the opening on the back.
The cardigan in knitted from the top down, flat, on single pointed needles. It doesn't take much yarn and the yoke is great for using up odd ends that are still residing in your stash.
Because of the fairisle yoke I suggest this pattern for an intermediate knitter, not for a beginner.
To follow knitting instructions you will need to have basic knitting skills, know basic knitting stitches, cast on within a row, stranded colorwork, ability to read and follow charted fairisle pattern.
The cardigan in knitted flat, from the top down. Round yoke is worked in stranded colorwork.
The yoke pattern is charted.
You will need yarn that gives you 7 sts and 9 rows in stockinet stitch. Because each of us knits at different tension, use any seize needles that will give you required gauge.
The original was knit with Fairy Hare by Kimmet Croft Fibers ( angora/merino), 2 ply, laceweight yarn. You can find the the shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/KIMMETCROFTFIBER . I am not associated wit the shop.
