Knitting pattern for sweet summer Saule dress for 18 inch American Girl dolls.
This is a sleeveless A-line shaped dress with beautiful lace yoke and lace border hemline. Zipper closure on the back insures that the dress has a perfect fit. The hemline has two variations, a straight one that follows the general shape of the skirt and a flared one that creates a very pretty looking lacy border.
The dress is worked flat, from the top down, with minimal shaping and no sewing afterwords except for the partial back seam.
Intermediate difficulty level.
The sample was made from Angora Gold by Ice Yarns.
Suggested substitute yarn - fingering weight yarn like Chroma Fingering by Knit Picks. This as a long color change yarn that produces beautiful striped fabric that you can see on the double photo.
Gauge - 7.2sts x 10 rs =1" (2.5cm) over stockinette stitch with US#) (2.00mm) needles or size to achieve gauge.
Notions - 7" (17.5cm) zipper, tapestry needle for sewing.
As always, use any yarn and any size needles that will give you the required gauge, the gauge is very important, or the finished outfit will not fit your doll.
